The Maritime Authority of Jamaica (MAJ) illuminated the Office Centre Building in downtown Kingston, which houses its headquarters, in brilliant blue to celebrate World Maritime Day on Thursday, September 26.

The ceremony, which saw remarks delivered by MAJ chairperson Corah Ann Robertson-Sylvester and its director general, Bertrand Smith, formed part of the International Maritime Organization’s efforts to steer attention to its theme ‘Navigating the Future: Safety First!’

Jamaica’s oldest seafarer, Richard Ramsay, 91, was also recognised for his contribution to the industry.
