On a cool Monday evening, fellow diplomats and friends turned up at the residence of Argentina's ambassador to Jamaica, Ariel Fernandez, to bid farewell to South African Ambassador Mathu Joyini.

Monday night was all about her, and Joyini was greeted with warm hugs before the formalities.

Nicaraguan Ambassador David McField gave a formal farewell speech, noting how important South Africa is to many Caribbean countries. In closing, he noted, "Sorry to say goodbye. Thanks for coming on board."

In her address, Joyini noted how happy she was to be among her colleagues, whom have become friends.

"It has been good. Thank you for being friends. Thank you for being colleagues. Just thank you very much," she closed.

Guests immediately broke into song, singing 'for she's a jolly good fellow' just before presenting the departing ambassador with a final token.
