Last Friday, Sandals Montego Bay opened its doors to welcome the new crop of University of the West Indies, Mona - Western Jamaica Campus (WJC) Ambassadorial Corps at a special luncheon in Whitehouse, St James.

The resort, the flagship in the chain of luxury-inclusive hotels, provided a fantastic team, anchored by group public relations manager, Khadine Daley, who pulled out all stops to ensure that the event was unforgettable.

The group, the second group to be appointed by the WJC, includes attorney-at-law and developer Paula Kerr-Jarrett; director of sales at Royalton White Sands, Kerry-Ann Quallo-Casserly; interior designer Kathryn May; president of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gloria Henry; chief commercial director at MBJ Airports Limited, Sitara Byfield; Solo Jamaica's Laura Mazabel; Sandals director, Wayne Cummings; Amstar's managing director, Richard Bourke; Chukka's chairman, John Byles; Deja vu's Rajesh Kripalani; Tryall Club's guest services director, Richard Ferdinand; and VIP Attraction's David Hall. They will serve as the face of the university for the next two years.

Lauded as an outstanding initiative by pro-vice chancellor and Principal of the UWI Professor Archibald McDonald; he described the new team as some of the region's brightest and most trailblazing individuals who have exemplified the ideal qualities of real movers and shakers in the industry.

"This initiative also acts as a significant flagship for raising greater awareness of the important value that the UWI-WJC provides in the continued development of western Jamaica," he stated.

The ambassadors will serve until 2018.
