It is safe to say that the third instalment of the most prestigious race day on the island - the Diamond Mile last Saturday - exceeded all expectations.

Jamaicans love to put on a fashion shown, and they went all out with the emphasis on head gear for the daytime formal event. While the women wore fascinators galore, the men were not left out and stepped up to the plate. This was the event to be at.

While some came for the fashion, others were eager to see true horsepower put to the test. It was hard to ignore the display of sheer power going around the track with the jockeys taking full control of the stallions. The buzz of persons enjoying copious amount of libations and hors d'oeuvre were only momentarily interrupted by the sounds of hooves.

Outside of the winnings on the tract, there were also winnings infield. Hosted by Dhalia Harris, the kept the day's proceedings with giveaway. And outside of the large payout for the winning jockey and thoroughbreds, the women had a competition of their own - best hat. Diamond Mile Ambassador Angelie Spencer came out on top in her veiled top had and flowing skirt.

All in all, the BGLC family and sponsors should be proud of a high fashion and classy affair well done.
