Joy Robinson celebrates 65 in style
WESTERN BUREAU:
Maryland-based Jamaica-born attorney Joy Robinson celebrated her 65th birthday in fine style at the Millbrooks Resort in the exclusive Spring Farm community of St James last Friday night.
Using her favourite colour, red, as the theme, Robinson told Today that it seemed completely appropriate to select the sizzling shade because of the Christmas season and the festivities.
"It being my 65th birthday celebration made it even more fitting," she said. Robinson wore a red cropped pant outfit, while her sisters coordinated in a similar colour.
Attended by several family members and friends who travelled from near and far, Robinson received some glowing tributes, which included humorous stories by her cousin and emcee for the evening, Gordon Brown.
Brown, himself an attorney, spoke about his admiration for the well-established attorney and how he looked up to her professionally.
Robinson's cousin, Queens Council Denise Kitson, spoke of her leadership roles in the family, relating stories of Robinson's trailblazing life and leadership skills.
Sandra Branton offered a tribute to the woman she calls her big sis, while several friends, who included attorney Erica Hunt, Dorothy Quigley, Veronica Taylor, and Grace Dunkley, heaped praises on Robinson.
The words loyalty, commitment, and dedication, were used to describe how Robinson's friendship with them have strengthened their sense of community in the United States and her advocacy on behalf of others as an attorney, friend and family member.
