STETHS look to extend run

Despite being a mainstay in the daCosta Cup final in recent years, St. Elizabeth Technical High have never managed to win back-to-back titles, but when they take on Dinthill this afternoon in today's semi-final at Jarrett Park only one thing will be important and that is to win and make a fourth straight final appearance.

"Winning the daCosta Cup for STETHS is a very big thing because of all the titles we have, we still have not won it back-to-back and it's something the players talk about," reasoned head coach Omar Wedderburn.

"The plan is to defeat this Dinthill team and get into a position where we can defend our title. This is going to be a little bit of history and we want it," added Wedderburn.

Dinthill holding their own

Taking the fight to the former champions will not be easy, as Dinthill have been holding their own in this year's competition.

They finished second in Zone K behind Ewarton to move into the inter-zone round, where they edged out Marcus Garvey on goal difference, then advanced from the quarter-finals from a group that also included 2005 winners Godfrey Stewart High, Manchester and Kemps Hill, to now face the might of the

champions.

"They are a strong team; if they were not a good side they would not be here," Wedderburn said of his opponents.

Confidence in the STETHS camp should definitely be high, coming off last week's tough but well-earned 6-5 penalty kicks win over Clarendon in the Ben Francis KO final.

Wedderburn said his team lives for these moments.

"As the champions, it is these moments that you live for and we always respond because we take every match like a final," he said.
