The 2015 UWI Track and Field Invitational meet will be staged today at the UWI Usain Bolt Track.

Action will be streamed worldwide as the best athletes from local clubs and institutions will be on show.

Meet director, Grace Jackson has given the assurance that quality athletes will be in action from the camps of top coaches Stephen Francis, Glen Mills, Bertland Cameron and Michael Clarke.

UWI students, discus

thrower, Fedrick Dacres and sprint hurdler, Hansle Parchment, are expected to compete.

Also down to compete is 2013 IAAF Moscow World Championships 4x400m silver medallist Javon Francis. Francis will be hoping to improve on his current season's best of 46.29 seconds in the 400m as he continues to prepare for a return to the international stage.

The former Calabar High star is aiming to get below the 45.00 barrier this season and build momentum heading into the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing.

"I have enjoyed the start to the season so far. It is exciting for me to be back on the track and with each race I am feeling much more confident so I am just feeling good right now overall. It will be my first time running at UWI so I am definitely looking forward to that. I am really focused on execution right now so I am going out to do just that, execute the instructions from my coach, Michael Clarke," Francis said.

A total of 36 events, starting at 10 a.m., will be contested. Patrons can gain entry to the event for only $500 dollars while students with valid ID and children under 12 years, will only pay $300.
