Aston Villa remain in relegation trouble after Bafetimbi Gomis' late goal gave Swansea a dramatic victory. The French striker had earlier had two shots saved by home goalkeeper Brad Guzan, while teammate Wayne Routledge was denied on the goal line. Gomis then scored with only three minutes left when he held off Ciaran Clark to convert from 12 yards.

MANCHESTER CITY 3 WEST BROMWICH ALBION 0

Wilfried Bony's first goal for Manchester City helped his side on their way to a much-needed victory after Gareth McAuley was controversially sent off for West Brom. Fernando, with the 1,000th goal in the Barclays Premier League, and David Silva added further goals as City cut Chelsea's lead at the top of the table to three points.

NEWCASTLE UNITED 1 ARSENAL 2

GOALS:- SISSOKO 48th. ARSENAL: GIROUD: 24th, 28th.

Arsenal resisted Newcastle's second-half fight-back as they continued their pursuit of second-placed Manchester City with a sixth successive win. Olivier Giroud scored twice in four minutes, converting Santi Cazorla's free kick before heading in a corner for his 17th of the season. Moussa Sissoko sparked a revival but David Ospina's save from Remy Cabella's shot was crucial.

SOUTHAMPTON 2

BURNLEY 0

GOALS:- SOUTHAMPTON: LONG 37th; SHACKELL OG 58th.

Southampton boosted their hopes of securing a Champions League place with victory over struggling Burnley. Home goalkeeper Fraser Forster was taken off on a stretcher early on with injuries to his knee and shoulder. Shane Long stroked in the opener for the home side from close range, before Graziano Pelle rattled the crossbar.

STOKE CITY 1 CRYSTAL PALACE 2

GOALS:- STOKE: DIOUF 14th. PALACE: MURRAY PEN 41st; ZAHA 45th.

A goal and an assist from Glenn Murray helped Crystal Palace move 11 points clear of the relegation zone. Mame Diouf put Stoke ahead after Charlie Adams' deflected free kick fell into his path. Murray scored a penalty after goalkeeper Amir Begovic fouled Yannick Bolasie, and Wilfried Zaha made it 2-1 with a low strike after Murray flicked on a long ball from goalkeeper Julian Speroni.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 4 LEICESTER CITY 3

GOALS:- TOTTENHAM: KANE 6th, 13th, PEN 64th, Jeff Schlupp (OG) 78th, LEICESTER: VARDY 38th; MORGAN 50th; NUGENT 90th.

Harry Kane's first Premier League hat-trick got Tottenham's challenge for a top-four spot back on track. After Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was carried off, Kane slotted home and scored with a deflected shot as Spurs went 2-0 up. Jamie Vardy steered in an effort before Wes Morgan headed Leicester level. Kane converted a penalty and Foxes defender Jeff Schlupp scored an own goal as Spurs, despite Nugent's late second strike, held on for victory.
