Sandals Whitehouse lead Western Confederation's title-chasing aspirants
WESTERN BUREAU:
Sandals Whitehouse FC lead the quartet of teams into the last four of the 2014-15 Charley's JB Rum Western Confederation Super League, defeating Salt Marsh United 2-1 as the preliminary round climaxed on Sunday.
Fellow title aspirants, Savannah SC, brushed aside title rivals Wadadah FC 3-1 to extend their excellent form.
Beaches Negril's dramatic move up the standings, from a perilous position among relegation-threatened teams, to relative comfort in mid-table continued. A brace from top striker Kemar Dawkins, along with goals from Ricardo Mairs and Desmond Montague, fired them to a 4-0 win over Violet Kickers.
The semi-finalists are Savannah SC, Wadadah FC and Granville FC, along with heavy favourites Sandals Whitehouse.
The winning team will advance to the Red Stripe Premier League play-offs, which involves the champions from the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association, Eastern and Central confederations, with the top two qualifying for the Premier League.
STRONG FINISH PROMISED
On Sunday, Travis Davis and AndrÈ Vassell were on target for Sandals. They are expected to be among key players for head coach Aaron Lawrence, who had promised, at the start of the season, a strong finish and a place in the country's top league.
Semi-final pairings will see last season's beaten finalists, Granville FC, tackling Savannah in their first-leg match on Sunday, in a Frome Sports Complex double-header, beginning at 1:30 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., Sandals Whitehouse will tackle Wadadah. The return matches will be played on Sunday, May 3, with another double-header, at Jarrett Park.
