Pioneer adopts Sunshine Girl Slater
Shantal Slater has joined the growing number of Sunshine Girls to have received endorsement contracts under Netball Jamaica's Adopt-A-Player programme.
This comes against yesterday's announcement that Pioneer Manufacturing Distribution (PMD) Company Limited will be furnishing costs for the goal shooter during the national team's preparation for the upcoming Netball World Cup, to be held in Australia later this year.
Under the terms of the sponsorship, PMD will sponsor the netballer for her preparation for four months. In addition to sponsorship for preparation to the Netball World Cup, Slater will receive a special contribution from PMD for her own expenses.
"As part of our ongoing commitment to demonstrate good corporate social responsibility wherever possible, the company has responded to Netball Jamaica's appeal for support and has embraced the programme," said PMD's managing director, Alfred Thomas.
"We are delighted to be able to participate and, in particular, be able to assist in helping a player hone her skills to give us an even better chance of bringing home the trophy.
"The added bonus of being able to expose Shantal to Jamaica on an individual level, we hope, will boost her career, as well as heighten the awareness of our newly relaunched Chloro-Do Bleach brand. We look forward to continuing to build a strong relationship with Netball Jamaica," added Thomas.
GRATEFUL
Marva Bernard, president of Netball Jamaica, expressed gratitude to PMD, and reaffirmed her organisation's commitment to excellence.
"We are excited to have PMD on board, and laud the company for supporting such a worthy cause," she said.
"We assure them that we are dedicated to preparing the team to perform at the very highest level," Bernard added.
The PMD is a distribution company covering all major supermarkets, pharmacies, wholesalers and shops in the Jamaican market. The company owns the Chloro-Do Brand, which includes Chloro-Do Bleach and Chloro-Do Blue Soap brand, and distributes several multi-national brands such as Diversey, Lavolan and Pro Pet Dog Food.
For a short time, Slater will be on the team representing the newly re-launched Chloro-Do brand.
