Dream final for Quest in Scotiabank prep cricket

The ScotiaBank Prep School Cricket competition ended in a dream final for Quest Prep, which defeated former champion Hydel Prep by 10 runs to claim the championship for the first time.
The final was held last Friday at the Lucas Cricket Club in Kingston.
Quest won the toss and batted, making 131 for 5 in their 25 overs on the back of finals MVP Jahiem Rose, who made 18. The wickets went to four bowlers, who took one wicket each while there was one run out.

Hydel made a valiant effort and had Quest fretting as the inning approached the 25 overs mark. They ended on 121 all out in the 25th over. Najair Byfield, Nevaun Lindo, and Hurgley Knight all contributed 13 a-piece to the total. Rose came back to take two wickets for 29 in 5 overs, while AndrÈ Burgess bagged 3 for 15 in 3 overs, and Revaldo Mitchell got 2 for 11 in 4.1 overs. Rose also took four catches.
Quest coach Leonard Malcolm praised his team and all who contributed to the win. He said that it was the result of their three-year plan and that everyone was really happy for the win.
Hydel coach Burne Bryan, on the other hand, praised both teams for a good final, while saying that his team would be back to claim the championship that they won in the past.
The awards function that followed celebrated the many winners throughout the competition. The best bowler was Chadwick Bent of Belair Prep with 6 for 8 runs. Demarco Darling of Hydel, with 23 wickets, won for the most wickets, overall. Odane Ximinnes of Lannaman's scored the only hattrick of the competition against Ardenne Prep. Najair Byfied of Hydel posted the most runs. Norris Tenn, also of Hydel 110 not out, posted the most runs in a single inning.
The county champions are Cornwall - St James Prep and Supreme - runner up; Middlesex - Mt St Joseph and Glenmuir - runner-up; and Surrey - Quest and Hydel - runner-up. Quest was beating Hydel for the first time ever at the county final.
The county MVPs are Cornwall - Gabrielle Bryan of St James Prep with two half centuries and 22 wickets; Middlesex - Brian Barnes of Mt St Joseph, and Surrey - Najair Byfield of Hydel. Bryan is the first female to win a county MVP award.
