Young Ja swimmer breaks dad's record

Young Jamaican swimmer Jesse Marsh broke a 38-year-old National Age Group record at the XXIX Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championships in Barbados yesterday.
Marsh, swimming in the 13-14 age group, dropped nearly four seconds off his personal best set in the morning preliminaries to place fifth in the final. His time, 2:15.41, broke the previous mark of 2:16.68, which was set by his father, Olympian Allan Roy Marsh 38 years ago.
Later yesterday evening, Marsh placed seventh in the 50 metres backstroke in 30:47. Multiple medallist from Day Two Justin Plaschka did a personal best 27:04 in the 18 and over boys' 50 metres backstroke. He missed the bronze by nine-hundredths of a second.
Marsh will be the lone Jamaican swimmer in action today when he competes in the 400 metres freestyle.
