SWIMMING: Alia wins silver at PanAm Games

Jamaica's Alia Atkinson a short while ago won a silver medal in the women's 100m Breastroke Final A at the 2015 Pan American Games in Canada.

It is the first medal for Jamaica at the games.

Alia, who led for most of the race, swam 1:06:59.

She was beaten into second by American Katie Meili, who posted 1:06:26.

Bronze went to Rachel Nicol of Canada who did 1:07.91.

Earlier this evening, Timothy Wynter placed fifth in the men's Backstroke B Final.

That race was won by Armando Barrera of Cuba in 56.14.
