Scorpions hunt third win

Captain of Jamaica Scorpions Paul Palmer says the team will not be taking the Leeward Islands Hurricanes lightly heading into their fourth-round WICB First-Class Championship clash at Sabina Park today.

The Scorpions, with a two-win, one-loss record, are currently second in the six-team standings, while the Leewards, with three defeats from as many starts, are at the foot of the table.

"We will be going to play hard, positive cricket and not take anything for granted," stated Palmer.

"They are at the bottom of the table and want points, however, we are keen to ensure that they don't register a win at our expense."

SQUAD CHANGES

The Scorpions, coming off an impressive six-wicket win away to the previously unbeaten Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, will enter the contest with two changes to their 13-man squad.

Out goes wicketkeeper-batsman Chadwick Walton and fast bowler Jason Dawes. They have been replaced by Carlton Baugh Jr and left-arm quick, Sheldon Cottrell.

Walton has examinations at the University of the West Indies, while Dawes has been the least effective pacer in the squad so far.

The Hurricanes, with Jamaican Nkrumah Bonner in their line-up, have also made two changes to their squad, which lost inside two days against the Windward Islands Volcanoes last time out.

England-based batsman Chesney Hughes has been included, along with wicketkeeper-batsman Jahmar Hamilton.
