KSAFA launch 2016 David Hunt Management Seminars

The Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) will stage the 2016 David Hunt Management Seminar at the Melbourne Cricket Club on Saturday, January 30.

The seminar sponsored by Mayberry Investments Limited and named in honour of the late track and field coach, football coach and administrator is being held in an effort to facilitate the 35 active football clubs in the Corporate Area in becoming more efficient and financially stable as they carry out their mandate of developing the sport of football in the city.

KSAFA President Ambassador Stewart Stephenson, while speaking recently at the launch of the seminar at the headquarters of Mayberry Investments Limited said the association's mandate is to promote the game, foster friendly relationships and control the game, but for that to happen clubs have to be properly managed.

"In carrying out our mandate, not only do we pursue competitions for our clubs, but we must also provide supplemental support for the clubs to increase and improve their efficiencies as administrative entities," he said.

Each club is expected to send a coach and a manager to the seminar, where they will hear speakers on a variety of subject areas including club constitution and articles of association, marketing, match day preparation, preparing and maintaining fields and managing finances. There will also be presentations by the referees association on the laws of the game and another on preparing for television interviews. Some of the speakers will include Television Jamaica's Patrick Anderson, Anika Smith, vice-president of marketing at Mayberry Investments, Gary Peart, CEO of Mayberry Investments, Roy Simpson, the team manager of the national senior football team, Elvis Jenkins, KSAFA's treasurer and Aubrey Duncan, manager of fields at the St James Parish Council.

Peart, whose company contributed $100,000 towards the hosting of the seminar, said Mayberry is happy to be associated with the seminar.

"We are happy and proud to be associated with KSAFA, and especially this David Hunt Management Seminar. We have always considered it our duty to support the community and initiatives such as this, which assists in the development of young people and especially young males, and for them to have a safe place to develop their life skills. We are aware of the positive impact this type of activity will have on the clubs and their attached communities," Peart said.
