Western Bureau:

Mickel Fetlow won the most valuable player award for his starring role in the Captain's Bakery and Grill/Charley's JB Rum Hanover FA Knockout League.

Fetlow was the outstanding player in Lucea FC's 3-1 victory over Sandy Bay FC in Tuesday's final at Watson Taylor Park.

The inspirational midfielder was the key man for Lucea as they dominated the final and should have won by an even wider margin.

"Today we proved we are the best team in the knockout competition. We played according to the pre-game plan, and Fetlow and the rest of the team executed as is expected. I am very happy," coach Marlon Gray said.

Junnel McDonald's goal in the 54th minute broke the stalemate and injected life into an otherwise dull encounter.

McDonald collected a pass and fired low past the onrushing Wade Duncan in goal for Sandy Bay, and in the 66th minute, Oshane Preston doubled Lucea's lead when Wade gifted him the simplest of chances.

The goalkeeper failed to punch the ball clear and it looped into the air for Preston to head home.

sweeping move

With Sandy Bay on the back foot, second-half substitute Jhevoy Diaz completed a sweeping move from Lucea.

The winger was left unmarked inside the area and he dived low to score a beautiful goal in the 89th and sealed the title for his team.

Sandy Bay's consolation goal came form Alton Miller injury time.

Lucea FC will now represent Hanover in the all-island knockout competition later this year.
