The 19th annual Milo Prep/Primary School Swimming Championships gets under way at the National Aquatics Centre today at 8:30 a.m.

With main sponsors NestlÈ celebrating 150 years worldwide and 75 years in Jamaica, the swim championships will be the biggest staging to date.

The company has committed $750,000 in sponsorship, plus a further $100,000 challenge for the outstanding youngsters to break 19 records, in commemoration of the event's 19th staging.

Meet director Rory Alvaranga says he is expecting as many as 40 schools and more than 700 swimmers aged four to 12 to compete at the two-day meet.

A brilliant cast led by Joshua Alleyne from Sts Peter and Paul Prep, Zaneta Alvaranga of St Hugh's Prep, Zacharay Jackson-Blaine from Creative Kids Learning, and Christanya Shirley of Wolmer's Prep will head their respective age groups.

Meanwhile, Wolmer's Prep in the boys' category and Immaculate Preparatory for Girls will defend their titles, while Excelsior are last year's primary champions.
