Third day of fourth Test abandoned

West Indies' batsman Kraigg Brathwaite is safe in the crease as India's wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha attempts to stump during day one of the fourth cricket Test match at Queen's Park Oval in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad last Thursday.

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC):

Play on the third day of the final Test between West Indies and India was abandoned without a ball bowled.

A wet outfield had forced the abandonment of the opening session, and heavy rains then returned to scupper the clean-up efforts and put paid to any hope of a resumption yesterday.

The outfield at Queen's Park Oval has remained soft ever since heavy showers forced play to be aborted on Thursday's opening day after only 13/4 hours of play.

Friday's second day was also abandoned without a ball bowled because of a wet outfield.

West Indies, opting to bat first, are 62 for two, with opener Kraigg Brathwaite unbeaten on 32.
