PARIS, France:

Jamaica's Simone Facey will be eyeing a top-three finish when she competes in the women's 200 metres at today's Diamond League meet in Paris.

"Definitely, I am hoping to finish in the top three in the event tomorrow," Facey said yesterday.

Facey, a semi-finalist in the event at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, knows, however, it will be no easy task. Included in the field are Olympic silver medallist, Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands, Marie-Josee Ta Lou of Cote d'Ivoire, who was fourth in Rio, and American Jenni Prandini, who has been showing good form.

The talented Facey, who still holds the National Junior record in the 200m and who was absent from the track for a while before bouncing back this season, likes what she has done so far on the track.

"I like what I have done so far this season and I am happy to be in Paris as this is my second time here. I was here in 2014, and I am really looking forward to competing well," she said.

Facey did not reach the Olympic final. But she was pleased with her performance at the Games.

"That was my first time running an individual event at the Olympics and, despite not reaching the finals, I gave it my all out of lane eight in the semi-finals and it was an honour to represent the country at this level," concluded Facey, who is aiming at a sub-22.50 time today.
