Day looking to put Rio nightmare behind her

PARIS, France:

The season started well for Christine Day, but after a second-place finish at the National Senior Championships, she failed to her good early form in Rio de Janeiro.

Day dropped out in the semi-finals at the Olympics and, to add to her disappointment, she was left off the team for the 4x400 metres final after running the opening leg in the preliminary round.

Today at the Paris Diamond League, Day is hoping for a better race execution when she competes in the one-lap event.

"Tomorrow, I just want to execute well by putting a good race together. I was very disappointed in my performance at the Olympics despite being in the best shape of my life," Day said in Paris yesterday.

She wants to put that Olympic Games disappointment quickly behind her with a big run today.

"I have put that behind me already and it is about the future, and if you want to be a champion, you just have to move on, and I am really motivated to do well," she added.

Day has no regrets about changing camp last year after switching from Stephen Francis' MVP to Bertland Cameron's Blazers.

"I have no regrets. The past is the past and, in life, you just have to move on. Cameron is a great coach and the first year with him was a feeling-out process and now (that) he knows my weaknesses and strengths. I am going for great things next year," Day said.

"I know things will be better. You just have to believe in God because he granted me this talent and gave me the gift to run and I trust in Him and believe in His words as it wasn't man who gave me the talent, and no matter what, I will always be Christine Day," she concluded.
