A large field is expected to contest the 38th running of the 2016 Superstakes to be sponsored by Burger King for the second consecutive year on Saturday, November 12, at Caymanas Park.

Details for Burger Superday 38, dubbed 'A Day with the King and his Horses' were outlined by representatives of the fast food franchise at Caymanas Park yesterday.

Burger King has donated $2.2 million to purses, including $1 million to the Superstakes, and $4.4 million overall.

Denzil Miller Jr, Caymanas Track Limited's racing secretary, said the prestigious invitational race should see at least 14 horses facing the starter for the lion's share of the $4.5 million purse. They include last year's winner FRANFIELD from the stables of eight-time Superstakes winning trainer Richard Azan, and reigning Horse of the Year SEEKING MY DREAM, who is trained by Wayne DaCosta, stable-companion PERFECT NEIGHBOUR, SUPERLUMINAL, PHINEAS, HOUDINI'S MAGIC, Oaks winner A THOUSAND STARS, PINELOPE, hat-trick seeker JAMAI RAJA, and WILL IN CHARGE.

According to Miller, the other sponsored races on the programme are the 29th running of the $1.75 million Glen Mills Caribbean Sprint Championship over 1200 metres featuring new sprint sensation BUZZ NIGHTMARE, the third running of the Coco-Cola Invitational Mile with a purse of $1.25 million and the 10th running of the Junior whopper Juvenile Sprint over 1300 metres for a purse of $1 million.

In addition, special awards of $50,000 will be presented to the top trainer, top jockey and top groom on the day. Also speaking were CTL's managing director Shane Dalling and Richard Lake, chief executive officer of Burger King.
