Portmore United advanced to the CONCACAF Champions League first phase following a 2-2 draw with San Juan Jabloteh  in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship final stage at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.

The Jamaica team fought back from two goals down to earn a point. However, it was not enough to take them into the final. Former Portmore defender Adrian Reid netted for the T&T club in the 34th minute and striker Vurlon Mills doubled the advantage for the home side in the 41st minute.

The Jamaican club scored twice  in the last five minutes courtesy of goals by Jermie Lynch in the 85th minute and captain Ewan Grandison (87th).

Both clubs ended on four points in Group B, but San Juan Jabloteh scored four times and conceded once while Portmore had three goals for and two against in two games. Racing des Gonalves ended without a point.

The Linval Dixon-coached Portmore defeated Racing des Gonalves 1-0 last Tuesday, courtesy of Ricardo Morris' strike in the 17th minute.

Portmore will battle for third place against the runners-up in Group A, while San Juan Jabloteh will oppose the Group A winners in the CFU Club Championship final on Sunday at the Haseley Crawford Stadium.

The champion team will enter the CONCACAF Champions League second phase next year, while the second, third and fourth will enter the first phase later this year.
