Nutramix increases prize money for domino tournament

The second staging of the NutraMix Double Six Domino competition has seen an increase in prize monies and products for winners.

"Similar to last year, the competition will primarily involve farmers, non-farmers and feed stores alike, who work extremely hard, and so this is an opportunity for them to unwind while enjoying their favourite pastime," Winston Thomas, sales manager of NutraMix, said during the launch at Melbourne Cricket Club recently.

"This year's staging will be even bigger and better, with a larger cash prize, moving from $1 million to $1.5 million, and more feed to be won by contestants. We have also decided to include baby chicks as a part of the prize offerings. Competing teams must comprise two persons, one of whom must be a farmer," he outlined.

"There will be eight regional rounds beginning in Old Harbour on June 24. We will then make our way across the island, ending on September 9 at Montego Bay Community College," he said about the competition.

At each regional round, the winners will collect $50,000, 100 baby chicks and half tonne of Nutramix feed. The runner-up will take home 50 baby chicks and 10 bags of feeds. The final is scheduled on September 16 at Turtle River Park in Ocho Rios and the winner will receive $250,000, 300 baby chicks and one tonne of feed.

Humbert Davis, vice-president of the National Association of Domino Bodies, commended the sponsors for making the competition that started last year bigger.

"Last year was tremendous and this year is bigger, so I am expecting more excitement when the competition starts this month. I want to thank Nutramix for this tournament," Davis said.
