Wartime to go all the way

Champion jockey Omar Walker has been having a very lean time in the saddle. He has only ridden two winners over the past five race days, but this should not stop him from opening the Sunrise-6 tomorrow with BIG MISTAKE.

Down two levels after an encouraging effort in $400,000 claiming on July 15, BIG MISTAKE is tipped to go all the way for Walker. In his last effort in this claiming group on June 24, BIG MISTAKE led for most of the way before being tagged by Arizona Gold in the final 100 metres of the 1200 metres race. The opening splits were fairly fast, 23.1x46.2, and that should be good enough to take care of the four-year-old gelding's eight rivals.

LIGHT BRIGADE is quite light and should occupy the runner-up spot.

Race two, an 1800 metres event for non-winners of two, looks tailored for MUSKETOON. The Anthony Nunes-trained colt performed dismally when coming to the group for the first time on July 29, but is better suited by tomorrow's distance. MUSKETOON scored an easy win over 1700 metres on July 19 and appears to be blessed with a wealth of stamina. With tomorrow's distance 100 metres longer, he will be a lonely winner.

Maiden three-year-old fillies are on show in race three and the one they all have to beat is the lightly-raced PRINCESS TALLAWAH. Trained by Wilfred Chin, she did not show very much when placing third by just under nine lengths to Biblical Legend on her debut. She has, however, trained very well since with 1:29.3 for 1400 metres on April 8 and is the firm selection to get off the mark with a fine win.

WARTIME is too well-handicapped to be opposed in the fourth. She was outgunned by the very fast Lunar Rocket over 1200 metres on July 22. That race was won in a very fast 1:12.1. WARTIME now gets the perfect distance (1500m) and, with a feather to tote, should lead all the way. MY COMPANION, with Walker aboard, is the likely runner-up.

Race five over 1820 metres is a very knotty event, but SHELLIAN GREY looks the one best equipped to pull off a win. The six-year-old mare ran very well over the distance on July 15 and now back five pounds lighter is poised to go from gate to wire. LATE N DRAFTY is one to watch. His recent form has not been very good, but he has performed well over the distance in the past.

Close all Sunrise-6 bets with BAD GAL HILLARY. The field is extremely weak and jockey Walker should have little trouble in getting to the front with this fast filly and post his second winner in the exotic bet.
