Stewart demands more from Camperdown
It was a winning start for 2016 senior netball champions Camper-down High last Thursday in the ISSA urban schoolgirl netball competition. Playing away in Group B, the Wayne Stewart-coached team had a comprehensive 45-6 win over Edith Dalton James.
Despite the big win, Stewart was displeased with the overall play of his girls.
"It was a big win for us, but I was not pleased with how the team played, as there were too many errors," said Stewart.
He added that it was a new-look team but he expected better overall play.
"It is an inexperienced team, as we have lost majority of our players to local institutions, but most of our Under-16 players from last year are in the squad and they could have played much better," he continued.
However, Stewart is still confident that his team will top the group.
"We should still be able to dominate our group, but it will be tough for us when we reach the second round, where we are expected to meet the likes of defending champions Excelsior and St Catherine High, which have retained all their players from last year," concluded Stewart.
Earlier, the Camperdown junior team made it two wins in a row after a one-sided win over Kingston Technical the previous week. It was another big win for them as they easily got the better of Edith Dalton James 43-4. In another junior match, Holy Childhood defeated Kingston Technical 45-2.
