JAMAICA’S SUNSHINE Girls have added three players from its Fast5 World Series to the team that will go into the third game of their Horizon Netball Series against the England Vitality Roses this evening.

The game, set for the National Indoor Sports Centre at 6:30, is crucial as to who will take the Rhone Hornsby Trophy for the first time, with the Vitality Roses leading the four-game series 1-0 after two matches at the 02 Arena in Manchester, England, last week.

Zaudi Green, Kimone Tulloch, and Simone Gordon are the young players who will get a taste of international action.

The Jamaicans had come from behind to tie the first game 49-49 but could not repeat the feat in a 55-47 defeat in the second.

According to Sasher-Gaye Henry, the additions are considered a plus.

“We’re privileged to have a 15-member squad so we can rotate players for each game as we look forward to see how those players will be included,” Henry had told RJR Sports.

According to Henry, while this is the team’s first assignment in over a year, they are ready to go head to head with the number-two ranked team in the world.

“There’s lot of lessons to learn and lots of things to improve on. So we’re looking forward to game three. This is our first encounter after August of 2023, so we’re grateful for the opportunity to play one of the best teams in the world,” she added.

Henry further explained that while the team is currently nursing some injuries, the medical team is ensuring that the 15-member team will be fit and ready today.

“I think we have a few injuries, Achilles, and other stuff, but our physiotherapist is doing a good job, and we expect that the girls will improve as we look to get better playing our third and fourth game.”
