Haslam TT Challenge tomorrow at William Knibb

FIVE-TIME Caribbean champion Orville Halsam hasn't played table tennis for Jamaica in decades, but he hasn't been forgotten.

Memories of his stalwart service to the game will be relived at the Orville Haslam Legends of Table Tennis Challenge Cup tomorrow at the William Knibb Memorial High School. Among those who will take to the table to celebrate Haslam are four former national champions: Christopher Marsh, Colin McNeish, Peter Moo Young, and Courtney Wilson.

Haslam won the men's singles from 1967-1971 and helped Jamaica dominate the Caribbean. He later served as president of the Jamaica Table Tennis Association.

The line-up also includes Wilson's former St James teammates Bruce Cormack and left-handed Peter Tomlinson, recent Commonwealth Games trials third-place finisher Alphanso Morris, Stephen Grant, and Samuel Lamount on the men's side. The ladies listed to attend include former national players Cecile Dennis, Desrene Greaves, and Elaine McKoy.

According to the organisers, the players were all invited because of their contact with Haslam in the past.
