Two-year ban for Livermore

Jamaican sprinter Jason Livermore was banned for two years  by an anti-doping disciplinary panel at the Jamaica Conference Centre today.

However, the 29 year-old will now only serve 16 months, as the period from which his suspension began (February) will be deducted from the two years handed down..

According to panel chairman, Kent Gammon, while they are of the view that Livermore was not trying to cheat, they believed he was 'negligent'.
   

Livermore, a Commonwealth Games 200 meters bronze medallist,  was found to have violated  article 2.1 of the 2015 anti-doping code which refers to the presence of a prohibited substance or its metabolites or markers in an athlete’s  sample.
