Tighter security for Super Cup final - Redwood - Flow announces All Star teams and Man Utd training session

FLOW's vice-president of marketing, Carlo Redwood, said that his organisation and the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) are working out measures to prevent a

reoccurrence of last week's post-match fracas as the finals of the ISSA/Flow Super Cup take place at Sabina Park today, starting at 7 p.m.

It will be a town vs country affair when Kingston College face St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) for the top prize money and trophy.

"It certainly is unfortunate that things turned out like that last Saturday. We certainly learned some lessons on how to manage situations like that. We are taking steps to control spectators from entering the field and how we control incidents that are explosive," Redwood told The Gleaner yesterday.

"From a security standpoint, there are elements that we are working out going forward. It is really to work with ISSA on the adequate measures. We will work with ISSA to improve those processes to reduce those incidents happening in football," he shared

"But from an execution standpoint, we are putting measures in place to prevent those things from happening going forward, especially in the final," Redwood added.

Redwood also said the fans can look forward to top-class entertainment during the half-time break.

"Every Super Cup final, we always come with something

special for the fans. Certainly, fans coming out can expect another spectacular show," Redwood said.

We will have a FLOW Super Cup half-time show with big artistes. There will be lots of entertainment element during the break. The artistes are a surprise," he added.

After the final, two all-star teams will be selected for a one-day training session with coaches from many-time English champions Manchester United next January.

"We are selecting two All-Star teams from the eight Super Cup teams. We will be picking a first and second All Star via Facebook and social media. Those two teams will have a training session in January with Manchester United coaches.

"We have not selected the venue as yet, but Manchester United coaches will be in Jamaica for a full day session on a date to be finalised in January. The teams will play a game after the session, and it will be online, courtesy of FLOW," Redwood noted.
