Former Sporting Central Academy coach, Merron Gordon is in dialogue with Clarendon-based outfit Humble Lion for the vacant head coach position, following the departure of Lenworth Hyde Sr, who resigned last Monday.

Gordon, who was scheduled to meet with club officials today to iron out details of the move, which he hopes will be a long-term one, told The Gleaner yesterday that he is definitely looking to take the reins at Effortville.

"I am interested in the job as coach of Humble Lion," Gordon said. "I will meet with the club tomorrow (today), so I can't give any more details until after the meeting."

However, manager of Humble Lion FC, Sheldon Holness noted that Gordon, for now, will only play an interim role until the club's president Mike Henry is back from Government business.

"Mr Hyde resigned effective Monday in a communication to the club," Holness confirmed. "In the meantime, Merron Gordon will be the interim coach until the president (Mike Henry) returns to the island next week. We are working through a list of persons and should wrap up negotiations as soon as the president is back."

Efforts to contact Hyde yesterday proved futile as his mobile phone went unanswered.

Hyde was hired in July, just three days after Humble Lion parted ways with Donovan Duckie, who led the team to third place overall and winners of the regular reason award and $1 million incentive.

However, the big prize of winning the national title again eluded Humble Lion, hence, prompting the club to replace Duckie with Hyde.

Under Hyde's guidance, Humble Lion are sitting in tenth position in the 12-team Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) standings on ten points with just two wins and four drawn encounters from 11 games.

Hyde parted ways for the second time with Humble Lion after the team battled to a 1-1 draw against FC Reno last Sunday at Effortville Community Centre in Clarendon.

He had a stint at the club in 2010.
