BT aiming to surprise Arnett

Andrew Price, head coach of Boys' Town, says that his team is looking forward to stopping the unbeaten run of Trench Town neighbours Arnett Gardens when the teams meet in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) tomorrow at Barbican.

Boys' Town broke a 14-match winless run in their last fixture against Reno after a near three-month drought. The Red Brigade's first win of the season came on October 1 against Montego Bay United. Now, Price said the 2-1 win last Thursday at Frome Complex has boosted the confidence of his team.

Boys' Town are sitting at the bottom of the 12-team league on 10 points from 17 games, while Arnett are on 35 points in second position.

More confidence

"The team has shown signs of confidence since our second win of the season. We were losing a lot and that away win against Reno is great for the team," Price told The Gleaner yesterday.

"We are fully aware that it will take a lot of commitment and team work to beat Arnett. And, although playing at Barbican and not in Trench Town, it is still seen as a derby game for both teams and supporters," the long-serving coach of Boys' Town shared.

"Whenever the teams meet it takes little to motivate the players. Arnett have some former Boys' Town players so there is always motivation," Price added.

"We are showing more diligence, and the players have more pep in their step in training. We are still at the bottom and need to pick up points in order to climb the ladder.

"We have some young players in the squad, and they want to play, so that will make a difference. We are not afraid to give schoolboy players the opportunity to play in the Premier League," he noted.
