Super Glitterman a firm banker
WAYNE DACOSTA'S YAYA'S DREAM and the Richard Azan-trained WILSON are set to battle for top spot in tomorrow's opening race in the Sunrise-6 at Caymanas Park.
The more experienced YAYA'S DREAM has been knocking at the door since October 25 but has failed to get her head in front where it matters most. Trainer DaCosta has now fitted the filly with the blinkers and has champion jockey Omar Walker on board, so punters can expect a very big effort.
However, she should again be forced to be satisfied with a runner-up spot behind the lightly raced WILSON. The latter clocked a very good 1:27.3 for 1400 metres when finishing eight lengths behind highly rated Marquesas last November 15 and although the distance is now 200 metres shorter, a repeat of that effort should be enough to top this maiden three-year-old field.
Race Two brings together a crack field of three and four-year-olds. It's headed by four year-old TWILIGHT DREAM and promising three-year-old HONEY RYDA. The Carl Anderson-trained TWILIGHT DREAMS ran against some of the best three-year-olds last year. In his last run on November 17 he was just under a length third behind the runner-up Loose Cannon over 1100 metres clocking 1:06.2. The race was won in 1:06.0 by Malachi.
Both the winner and runner-up have been very impressive since then with Loose Cannon failing by a length to win in overnight company on December 26. TWILIGHT DREAMS has been working extremely well since the start of this year with a 34.4 bullet work for 600m on January 7. HONEY RYDA also ran well on December 30 while clocking 1:27.2 for 1400m behind Without Exception and it should be close between the top two.
SUPER GLITTERMAN had an outstanding first run last December and should not be opposed in Race Three over 1000 metres straight. Kicked out of the betting at 70-1 the Deputy Glitters - Florence offspring chased winner PAKMAN for the entire race before ending up second in 1:08.1 for 1100 metres. It's a time nothing else in this maiden field can match and the Michael Beecham-trained colt will be a lonely winner.
EL NUMERO UNO is also a banker in Race Four over 600 metres for bottom of the barrel claimers. On November 4 he was fifth by just under five lengths in a good 35.4 over tomorrow's distance. The race was won in 34.4 BURNING EXIT.
The last two races in the Sunrise-6 should be won respectively by the vastly improved SIMPLY OUTRAGEOUS and SUNSHINE CAT.
