CHAMPION apprentice Anthony Thomas yesterday booted home a four-timer to join Panamanian Dick Cardenas atop the jockeys' standings on nine winners.

Among Thomas's winners was 2-5 favourite MARVELLOUS MARVA aboard whom he produced a well-timed ride to outfinish United States-bred AWESOME DESTINY in the Alexander Hamilton Memorial feature at a mile.

The hot apprentice opened the programme with 4-1 chance FORTUNEONEHUNDRED and followed up with debutante DISABILITY CHARM in the fourth at 2-1 before landing the feature with in-form MARVELLOUS MARVA, who completed a hat-trick of wins.

Thomas completed his four-timer in the following race with 6-5 favourite TASHIE BABY, briefly leading Cardenas, who responded by landing MIRABILIS, his second winner of the day, to keep pace with the apprentice.

THRILLING VICTORY

Cardenas, who rode four winners on Wednesday and stated his intention to remain in the island this season to vie for a third jockeys' title, opened his account with a thrilling victory astride 9-5 chance JAMAICAN PHAROAH in the third.

Linton Steadman won the last two races of the day, BREEZY ADLIH in the Eight Thirty Sprint and SUNDANCE in the closing $250,000 claiming event, to bring down the curtains at odds of 3-1 and 5-2, respectively.
