King leads the way for Kingston
Enterprising batsman Brandon King continued his good form in the two-day Jamaica Cricket Association Senior Cup when he scored a shot-filled century to leave Kingston CC in pole position heading into today's final day of the top-of-the-table clash against St Catherine CC at Sabina Park.
King slammed 13 sixes and seven fours on his way to 132 as Kingston, batting first, posted a competitive 259.
The Tamar Lambert-captained St Catherine CC, in their reply, closed the day on 171 for six, 88 runs shy of taking first-innings honours.
The impressive King, who was recently drafted for the second straight season by the Chris Gayle-led St Kitts Patriots had to play a big innings as Kingston, after being 68 for one, fell to 80 for six and 108 for seven.
However, he found some lower-order allies in former national Under-19 wicketkeeper Kirk Harris (19), spinner Paul Harrison (15), and national fast bowler Marquino Mindley (15).
National left-arm spinner Stephan Casey, four for 78, and all-rounder Pete Salmon, three for 68, led the Saints bowling.
Wicketkeeper Darnel McCallum, 37 not out, and Stephan Casey, zero, will resume batting today when play resumes at 10 a.m.
