Champs 2018 | Day One: What the coaches say

Neil Harrison (Kingston College )

Kingston College had a fairly good day as most of the qualifiers have moved on. However, there was a major setback for the former champions as they will be without Romaine in the final of the Open Javelin as he failed to move forward

"There was a setback for us as Romaine Brown (who didn't advance) has been the season leader in the event (Open Javelin). Everything else has been on target and we are taking things step-by-step"

Michael Dyke (Edwin Allen)

One of Edwin Allen's Class Four athletes fell in the heats of the 70m hurdle but they bounced back with all the other athletes advancing.

"This was very unfortunate for us as Santae Wilson was leading in her race when she fell. I am disappointed indeed, but this will not affect our plans as we are on target and we are looking forward for Wednesday, when a more clearer picture will be known."

Dave Anderson (Holmwood)

Holmwood Technical are hoping to unseat Edwin Allen for the title amongst the girl and head coach, Dave Anderson was very pleased with his team's opening day performance.

"All the athletes we expected to advanced have gone forward and we are very pleased with the performances so far.cOne of our athlete failed to advance in the 80m hurdles but we are hoping no damage has been done and we're looking forward to today. Yesterday was a slow day and after today, we will have a much clearer picture. We are still very optimistic about our chances."
