It appears the rural area ISSA/Grace Headley Cup title will be heading back to St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) after the many-time champions put in an outstanding bowling performance on day two to claim a first innings lead over Holmwood Technical in the final at Manchester High yesterday.

After being bowled out for 183 in their first innings, STETHS returned to restrict Holmwood to 179, four runs shy of what could prove to be a pivotal first innings lead. The three-day showdown will see the winners being decided on first innings if the game ends in a draw.

STETHS, batting a second time, closed on an impressive 132 for three, for a lead of 136.

Spearheading the bowling display by STETHS was national Under-19 allrounder Andre McCarthy who claimed five for 30 with his seamers. Off-spinner Nigel Palmer took four for 56 while Andre Smiley topscored with 59 for Holmwood.

McCarthy, 42, and Palmer on one, will resume batting for STETHS when play resumes at 10 a.m. today.
