Chess Enterprise has opened registration for its 19th Annual Scholastic Team Chess Tournament, which takes place at the Alfred Sangster Auditorium at the University of Technology on June 2 and 3.

The two-day event brings together the nation's best young players to determine the top Under-8, Primary/Preparatory and Junior High school-based chess teams.

Based on the trend established in recent years, over 200 primary and secondary-school students are anticipated to vie for the 2018 trophies. All eyes will be on the defending champions - St Catherine High School, St Andrew's Preparatory School and Under-8 champions Hillel Academy, who will be seeking a hat-trick of wins.

This year, participating schools are being allowed a maximum of 10 teams (3 players and 1 reserve per team) in each category. The registration fee is $6,000 per team. Schools are required to be members of the Jamaica Chess Federation (JCF), or to ensure that each student on their team has at least a six-month membership with JCF.
