Whitehorses ambush SDC champions Heartease

Defending champions Heartease went down by six wickets to Whitehorses on the opening day of the Social Development Commission (SDC) National Community Twenty20 Cricket competition at Factory Oval, Springfield, in St Thomas last Sunday.

Heartease took first strike and fell for 83 all out off 17 overs, with Marlon Pearce earning the Lasco top-bat prize for the day with his 46. National bowler Keeno Wallace captured five for 11, including a hat-trick. He earned the Lasco ball of the day.

Whitehorses eased to 86 for six to win by four wickets.

Whitehorses' captain, Kashine Roberts, said that they made changes in their bowling attack and their strategy worked.

"The plan going into the game was to change the order of the bowling attack, and it worked. This year, we have a good unit, so we plan to continue working hard, and we are confident that we can go all the way at the national level," Roberts said.

In another game, Johnson Mountain defeated Strike Force by six wickets. The winners won the toss and handed Strike Force first strike, and they amassed 109 all out in 19.5 overs. Top scorer for Strike Force was Chevon Simpson with 35, while Rushawn Riley and Kevar Hamilton made 13 each. Johnson Mountain's Xavier Scott picked up three for six.

In their turn at the bat, Johnson Mountain reached 112 for four. Gavasca Maliky was the top scorer for Johnson Mountain with 32. He hit three fours and two sixes.
