Hydel are on top after the second day of the Jamaica Independent Schools Association (JISA)/Tastee National Prep Schools Track and Field Championship at the National Stadium, yesterday.

The St Catherine-based school lead with 63 points heading into today's final day. The top ten is completed by Vaz (41), Mona (28), Quest (27.5) and Sts Peter and Paul (24), Wolmer's (18), Our Lady of the Angels (14), St Johns (11), Stella Maris  and Emmanuel Christian Academy (11 each).
Hydel also lead both the boys and girls sections.

Corey Bennett, head coach of Hydel's track and field programme, said he was a bit surprised that his team is in front at the conclusion of day two.

"I think we are a little bit ahead of our plans. We did not expect to be in front at this stage but we are giving thanks ...," Bennett told The Gleaner.

"We scored some minor points today and we have made it to a lot of finals for tomorrow's last day. We are on course for a 13th straight hold on the title and 17th overall," he confidently predicted.

"We are satisfied with the junior programme although it is getting a beating as we have to split attention with the senior programme," Bennett also shared.

Hydel's Andre Smith ran an impressive 9.48 seconds to lead the eight finalists in the new 60m hurdles for boys Class  One event.
