Coach of Arnett Gardens, Jerome 'Jerry' Waite blamed faulty finishing for his team's elimination from the CONCACAF League by Unido Arabe of Panama.

Arnett went down 3-0 to the Panamanian club in the first leg of the round of 16 tie on July 31. They won the second leg 2-1 on Thursday night at the National Stadium. However, that result was not enough as the Jamaican club was eliminated 4-2 on aggregate.

"Anyone who watched the games saw that it wasn't tough. We created all of six chances in the first leg away in Panama. We were let down by our finishing," Waite told The Gleaner yesterday.

"In the second leg it was basically the same as we created the chances. We dominated the game and won the second leg but that was not enough," the veteran coach who led Arnett to four national titles, added.

Waite admitted that it was a tall task heading into the second leg.

Difficult task

"It was a difficult task as we had to play during the off season. We took five weeks to prepare for the CONCACAF League during the off season and another week to prepare for the second leg," he shared.

He is now looking ahead to the 2018-19 Red Stripe Premier League season.

"We still could have dome much better. We will now have to turn to the local Premier League and try to get back in the CONCACAF championship," Waite concluded.
