The 2018 St Mary Boscobel Premier League (BPL) T20 cricket competition bowls off today with favourites Boscobel Warriors up against Top Pen Giants at the Boscobel cricket ground, starting at 12:30 p.m.

Today's game will be preceded by a short opening ceremony, where St Mary Cricket president Ian Spencer will deliver a brief welcome to the many fans who are expected to cram into the grounds.

The six-team, round-robin league will also feature Jack's River Razors, Day's Mountain Strikers, Mango Valley Lions, and Port Maria Turbos.

President Spencer was full of praise for the Boscobel Sports Club, organisers of the event, under the patronage of the St Mary Cricket Association.

"It is very encouraging to see clubs putting on events, and the Boscobel Premier League promises to bring back high-class cricket to the parish, and as such, we as the association are happy to be their partners in this venture."

Acting president of the Boscobel Sports Club Wayne Lopez was excited at the level of talent that will be on display. "All the teams are strong, and we are looking forward to a very exciting competition," he noted.
