Western Bureau:

Frome Technical's coach, Aaron Lawrence, emphasised the importance of winning their first game of the quarterfinal stage of the ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup competition after his team defeated Maggotty High 1-0 at the Frome Sports Complex yesterday.

Granville Ricketts got the all-important goal for Frome in the 27th minute. In the second match of the doubleheader at the venue Dinthill High clipped Petersfield High 1-0.

"The first game is always important and usually the toughest one. I think the guys put in a good shift and gave us what we needed and that's the three points," said Lawrence.

Frome lost all their games at this stage of the competition last year but coach Lawrence is looking to build on yesterday's win in their quest to take home some silverware this season.

"Yes, of course, we are looking forward to kicking on from here. I'm happy we got the all-important first one out of the way and now that we have done so I think it can be smooth sailing from here," Lawrence said.

"However, we know it's going to be a tough game come Saturday. I heard that Port Antonio are not a bad team so we looking forward to going to the Juici field in Clarendon and get the job done," he added. Frome are playing in daCosta Cup quarter-final Group One along with Port Antonio High, Maggotty High and Mile Gully.
