Taylor takes charge at Harbour View

Stand-in Harbour View coach Fabian Taylor said the players have still not got over the sudden departure of former head coach Ricardo 'Bibi' Gardner, who handed in his resignation to the club on Monday after a poor run of results.

Taylor will lead Harbour View into their Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) game this evening at 7:00 p.m. in east Kingston against Waterhouse, and the former player said Gardner's announcement left a cloud of gloom over the club and its players.

However, he hopes they can put that behind them as quickly as possible and focus on the task at hand.

NO BETTER SOUL

"I would hope the players can put that behind them as they should know this is a part of the profession, so they have to be professional about their work and go about it the same way without coach Bibi.

"We couldn't have a better soul than coach Gardner. He's a humble human being. He works tirelessly, and he believes in the players he has. So it was unfortunate, but we have to move on," said Taylor.

"We didn't train [on Monday] because of the announcement, and they (the players) were a bit down, but today (yesterday) was brighter, and the players seem up for the task, so we are looking for a good showing," he added.

Waterhouse currently sit second in the table with 27 points, behind leaders Portmore with 31. Harbour View are second from bottom, tied on 13 points with Reno, and Taylor anticipates a difficult contest.

"In the Premier League now, every game is a difficult game, and the position that we find ourselves in makes it more difficult. But all the games are tough games, and Waterhouse will be no different. We just have to carry our A game and surprise some people because people are looking for us to be always drawing and losing, but our thing is to go out and surprise people and show them we can still win football games," said Taylor.
