At least three members of the history-making Reggae Girlz team who played in the FIFA Women’s World Cup last June have taken to social media to voice their concerns for not receiving payment to participate in the tournament.

Led by ace striker, Khadija Shaw, and sisters Allyson and Chantelle Swaby, the Girlz, using the hashtag #NOPAYNOPLAY, said that they will not represent Jamaica again until they have been paid what they were promised.

But, president of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), Michael Ricketts, is taken aback by the Girlz's protest.

According to Ricketts, they have been paid half of what was promised and an agreement was reached with the players through their team manager, Jean Nelson, for them to receive the rest of the payment by the end of this month.

“We have paid them half of what they are to be paid, but the truth of the matter is that we haven’t received the money from FIFA yet, and we're not able to pay them in full,” Ricketts said.

Last October, the Reggae Girlz became the first team from the Caribbean to qualify for the FIFA Women's World Cup.
