Boscobel Premier League bowls off tomorrow

The 2019 St Mary Boscobel Premier League (BPL) T20 Competition bowls off its sixth year with a titanic clash today, as Day’s Mountain Strivers clash with Jack’s River Razors at Boscobel Oval, starting at 1:00 p.m.

According to president of the Boscobel Sports Club, Wayne Lopez, organisers of the event “this year promises to be the biggest and best ever”.

Lopez noted that all the teams are raring to go and fans are in for special treats and surprises during the course of the competition.

The tournament is being sponsored by Costley Construction and Chem Quip Ltd and will feature a galaxy of stars from across the entire island.

The event will be officially launched by the president of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Wilford ‘Billy’ Heaven, at 12 noon.

The opening ceremony which will also be attended by JCA Board members and executives of the St Mary Cricket Association led by President Ian Spencer.

Tomorrow’s encounter will bring together a star-studded Day’s Mountain team boasting the likes of former West Indies Under 19 Youth player Tristan Coleman, the Bryce brothers Damion and Andre, and the hard-hitting duo of Kedar Brown and Sherdan Allen. Jack’s River will be led by Richardo ‘Chu chu’ Thompson, Mark Gordon, Sashane Anderson and Hanchard Hamilton.

Day’s Mountain’s skipper, Samuel McIntosh, said his team is ready for the challenge and is looking forward to a hard-fought game.

“We respect Jack’s River but we are going out to win,” Allen quipped.

Meanwhile, Jack’s River manager, Basil ‘Steady’ Cammock observed that his aggregation will be up to the task and could spring a few surprises during the course of the championships.

Competition continues tomorrow with an exciting double-header. At 9:30 a.m. defending champions Boscobel Warriors tackle Port Maria turbos, while in the feature at 1:30 p.m., Mango Valley Lions tackle Gayle Eagles.
