Denbigh, Manchester dominate rural quarters
DEFENDING junior and senior champions Denbigh and Manchester High dominated the quarter-finals of the ISSA Rural Schoolgirl Netball Competition, played at the G.C. Foster College of Physical Education and Sport on Friday. Both schools qualified both teams for the semi-finals set for the same venue tomorrow.
In junior action, Denbigh overwhelmed Mount Alvernia 38-4, Manchester outlasted Holmwood 30-22, Glenmuir stopped Knox 43-20, and Green Pond scored a big upset after edging May Day 32-31.
In senior action, Denbigh easily got the better of Green Pond 40-18, Manchester were too good for Herbert Morrison 41-30, Holmwood turned back Glenmuir 45-28, and Porus got the better of Bishop Gibson 38-27.
In semi-final action, which will begin at 9:30 a.m., Denbigh will battle with Manchester, while Glenmuir will come up against Green Pond. Denbigh, who will be hoping for double success once again this season, will oppose Porus, while Holmwood and Manchester will clash in senior action. Both games are down to begin at 10:30 a.m.
