Football administrator leaves for US

Brian Rose’s 25 years of service in local football as manager and treasurer has come to an end. He left the island yesterday for the United States, where he will embark on a new phase of his life.

The veteran football administrator who served local football as manager of the Tivoli Gardens and Olympic Gardens football clubs, as assistant treasurer of the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA), and on the finance committee of the JFF, said he has enjoyed his time in football.

However, he believes that the local football governing body, the JFF, needs to place a lot more emphasis on and provide greater expertise for the development of youth football.

“I won’t be in Jamaica, but my heart will be with Tivoli. I will help in whatever way I can. I will be helping in the background. I related to the president that I will give whatever assistance I can. I will still be a member of the Tivoli management team,” he said.

However, Rose believes that the grass roots level of local football needs a lot more attention and support and called on the JFF to place a lot more emphasis on youth development.

“I think I have done my fair share for football in Jamaica. I just hope the JFF will get down to some serious work on the grass-roots level of the football and improve that,” he commented.
