Edwin Allen High School sprinter Kevona Davis will be a Longhorn this autumn after accepting an admission offer from Division 1 institution, the University of Texas (UT), Austin today.

The 18-year-old was expected to become a professional, but instead, she has decided to concentrate on her academics. Davis will pursue a degree in Psychology.

"I feel very elated in signing for UT," Davis told The Gleaner. "This was a school I was dreaming of attending and this is a dream come true. I had always wanted to pursue a degree instead of going the professional route."

"We are very excited about the signing of world class talent Kevona Davis," UT head coach Edrick Floréal said. "We are looking forward to her arrival and believe she will fit in well with our current student athletes and University."

She will join fellow Jamaicans Washington Brown, O'Brien Wasome, Stacey-Ann Williams, and quarter-miler Sanique Walker at her new school. She will also team up with former St Catherine High school sprinter, Julien Alfred, out of St Lucia, who was the top female collegiate sprinter this season in the 100m and 200m sprints.
