Morrison, Flemmings named to Reggae Boyz squad

Former Manchester United player and England youth product Ravel Morrison is set to make his long-awaited debut for Jamaica's national senior team in their double friendly international assignment against Saudi Arabia next month.

Morrison, who has also represented Italian club Lazio, was one of four first-time call-ups to head coach Theodore Whitmore's 24-member squad, which was announced on Wednesday ahead of the November 14 and 17 fixtures, which are set for Riyadh.

The other first timers are wing-back Gregory Leigh (Aberdeen), Midfielder Daniel Johnson (Preston North End) and Norman Campbell (FK Graficar).

Junior Flemmings, who made international headlines recently after allegations that he directed a homophobic slur towards an opponent in a USL match, is also included in the squad, which is highlighted by the presence of Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey and Charleroi hot-shot Shamar Nicholson.

The five local based players in the squad will be tested for COVID-19 on November 4 and will be sequestered along with some staff members at the UWI/JFF/Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence until they depart on November 6.

Missing from the squad is captain Andre Blake, who had indicated his unavailability due to logistical issues with his club, Philadelphia Union.
