Bangladesh recover after strong start from Windies bowlers

Bangladesh, opting to bat first, were 242 for five at the close on the opening day of the first Test against West Indies at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Wednesday.

Shadman Islam has led with the bat for the host, with a score of 59. He received support from Skakib-al-Hasan 39 not out, Musfiqur Rahim 38, Liton Das 34 not out, Mominul Haque 26 and Najmul Hossain 25.

Left arm spinner Jomel Warrican has been the pick of the West Indies bowlers having so far taken 3-58 to keep the Bangladesh batmen in check.

However, the home team would be pleased with their final session showing, after recovering from 140 for four at Tea. They added 102 before losing their fifth wicket to wrestle control from the visiting Windies bowlers.
